01What is Rook & Forge?+

A 12-week online membership where members read one classic book, write one finished reflection, discuss the book, and complete field assignments outdoors.

02How much does it cost?+

$99 every three months.

03What do we read?+

We choose one classic for each season. Books include The Call of the Wild, The Sun Also Rises, The Count of Monte Cristo, Meditations, and many more.

04What kind of writing counts?+

Fiction, essays, poems, memoir, scripts, research, letters, and private work all count. The writing goal is optional, but allows members to reflect more deeply on the work they just read.

05What does ‘finish something’ mean?+

Choose a result you can check on the final date: a full first draft, six revised scenes, one essay, ten poems, or another set amount of work. There is no right answer.

06What counts as a field day?+

We suggest a local outdoor experience for all members, designed specifically for your city and season. A hike, long walk, ride, paddle, campout, outdoor meal, or quiet afternoon all make it into the fold. We will provide options for outings that fit your body, schedule, and city.

07What should I bring outside?+

Water, a weather layer, a notebook, a pencil, or anything else that will help you spend unrestricted quality time outdoors. Keep your phone packed unless you need it for safety.

08Where does Rook & Forge meet?+

The online member community is the core experience, so members can participate fully from anywhere. Informal local gatherings are member-led and optional. Larger seasonal experiences happen each season in select cities.

09Must I attend in person?+

No. The reading, writing, community discussion, professor session, and field assignments are part of the online seasonal experience. In-person gatherings are optional.

10Why do you limit membership?+

Hosts lead each talk, run each writing room, and plan each city event. We cap the season at the number they can run well.

11How do I join?+

Join the waitlist with your name, email, and city. We review availability by city and season. If space is available, we send the season details and how to take your seat.

12Can I cancel?+

Yes. Cancel before the next three-month charge. You will keep access through the end of the season you paid for.
